Ogun State Government To Partner With Lafarge On Waste To Energy Programme.

The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun has disclosed the intention of his administration to partner with Lafarge Africa Plc on waste re-cycling and management across  the three senatorial districts in the state with a view to producing energy and generating employment opportunities, according to BusinessDay reports.

Governor Amosun noted that the initiative would involve waste clearing, waste management and generation of renewable energy, adding that the partnership which would be focused on one dump site in each of the senatorial district would reduce the effects of human activities and pressures on climate change.

Corroborating the governor’s statement on the waste-to-energy programme and partnership with the State government, Peter Hoddinott, GMD, Lafarge Africa Plc, affirmed the company’s commitment to Ogun State’s socio-economic development, saying the combustible and re-cyclable energy programme would improve the State’s economy and create job opportunities.
