NCDMB To Partner With Bayelsa State Government on Oil and Gas Parks

Partnership plans are currently on ground between the Bayelsa State Government and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in the development of the Nigerian Oil and Gas and Park Scheme, as revealed by the NCDMB Executive Secretary, Mr. Denzil Kentebe, National Mirror reports.

The Executive Secretary who was represented by the Director, Finance and Personnel Management, NCDNB, Alhalji Mustapha Mamudu confirmed that the Board initiated the Parks Scheme and the Polaku Pipe mill to bring operations of the oil and gas industry closer to the oil fields and stimulate industrialization in the Niger Delta region.

In the first phase of the project, the parks would be cited in Bayelsa, Imo and Cross Rivers State. The concept of the parks is targeted at promoting manufacturing of oil and gas components, providing opportunities for research and development and integrating oil and gas based entrepreneurs into manufacturing through mentoring by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and other multinationals.

Kentebe, while speaking at the just concluded 2nd edition of the Bayelsa State Investment and Economic Forum (BSIEF), promised that NCDMB will work with the Bayelsa State Government which has announced plans to establish a 50 hectare Eco-Industrial Park that would have designated areas for different sectors of the economy including the oil and gas industry.

Details of the partnership need to be worked out, from the synergy between both parties to avoid duplication of efforts and waste of scare resource as noted by the Executive Secretary.
